11_personal_approachWhen it comes to choosing a doctor, you probably have certain deal-breakers.  You may spend time reading reviews and write-ups from various online databases, or you may consult friends, family or colleagues.  You may also compare several doctors with a pro and con list.  No matter which way you go about selecting your weight loss doctor, you will want to ensure that you choose the best of the best!

We couldn’t agree more.  Weight loss surgery is not something that is to be entered into lightly.  Your research is highly beneficial in the long run, as you often end up spending more time with the doctor than you even anticipated. This is why Dr. Fass puts such a high focus on his personal approach to weight loss surgery.

Why does a personal approach make such a difference?  Well, let’s start by taking a look at the opposite way of handling surgery.  With impersonal surgeons, you are met by technicians and office staff more frequently than you are met by the doctor actually performing your surgery.  In most cases, the doctor comes in to greet you before surgery, completes his job, and leaves you to the care of nurses and other staff members.

If you choose Dr. Fass as your weight loss surgeon, you will notice a vast difference in his approach, comparatively. Your first trip to his office will result in a one-on-one evaluation of your specific case with Dr. Fass himself. Over the course of the next few weeks, Dr. Fass will see you at every visit before you meet with a nutritionist or other staff member.  Once again, how does this make a difference?  When patients deal with doctors directly, there is a different level of respect.  They know that they are getting accurate information, straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.  Because the doctor meets with the patient at every visit, he is more apt to recognize and handle a problem if one should arise. There is now a vested interest in the patient from the doctor’s point of view.  He has met multiple times with a patient and possibly also with family members.  No longer is the patient simply a body on a table undergoing a procedure.  Instead, the patient is a person.

In the long run, patients do better with surgery when they meet regularly with the doctor performing their procedure. It is important to cultivate a relationship with your surgeon and to ask all your questions from the beginning. This will make both you–the patient–and your doctor more comfortable and prepared for surgery.  Your experience with a personal doctor like Dr. Fass will make all the difference as you seek success after weight loss surgery.
