How To Prepare For Weight Loss Surgery
Weight loss surgery does not have to be a daunting task. With the personalized approach of Dr. Fass, weight loss surgery can be a seamless process. However, it will be a process. There are a few steps involved before you go “under the knife”, so to speak. Whether you’re considering gastric sleeve surgery or another type of surgical weight loss, we’re sure you’d like to know what’s up the road ahead. We can’t promise that every doctor is just like us, but we hope this guide can at least give you a peak into what’s coming up for you.
How To Prepare for Weight Loss Surgery:
- First things first, you’ll come to Dr. Fass’ office for a consultation. In this first meeting, you’ll discuss current medical issues and eating habits.
- Next, you’ll discuss weight loss surgery as an option with your family. It is so important to have the support of your loved ones. We cannot stress this enough. Post-surgery, the support of your family will look a lot like they’re walking the same road as you are.
- Make sure everyone knows of your new diet and vitamins.
- Make sure your family is aware of your new exercise regimen. Bonus: have a family member agree to exercise with you weekly.
- Assure that everyone knows your life is about to change, but that it is going to change for the better!
- You’ll meet with a nutritionist and, two weeks before surgery, you’ll be placed on a special diet. This will help shrink the left lobe of the liver so that Dr. Fass can see to the stomach. This diet will remove high fats and also help set you up for success after surgery.
- In the few days leading up to surgery, you’ll purchase your vitamins and stock your home with healthy foods.
- Before you know it, you’ll head to the hospital for your surgery with Dr. Fass and you’ll leave a new person. Make sure you take some time to wrap your head around this and prepare for your new life.
As always, Dr. Fass would love the chance to meet and talk through any questions you have concerning weight loss surgery.
