Meet Austin’s First Laparoscopic Fellowship Trained Surgeon
Here in Doctor Fass’s office, we have the privilege to have Austin’s First Laparoscopic Fellowship Trained Surgeon working with patients daily. We want to introduce you to him and share more about who he is beyond a surgeon.
Dr. Fass finished his fellowship at the prestigious Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 2000. After that, he went on to be highly involved in the clinical trials that led to FDA acceptance of the lap band in the US. After this notable achievement, Dr. Fass started practicing in Austin. He brought his skill and new technology and was one of the first surgeons to perform a laparoscopic colectomy.
While in Austin, Dr. Fass became the first weight-loss doctor to perform a lap band surgery in Austin. Beyond his current active role as a surgeon, Dr. Fass remains active in the laparoscopic societies (SAGES, ASMBS), which allows him to continue staying at the forefront of laparoscopic and bariatric surgery.
Over his time as a surgeon, Dr. Fass has been selected by peers to “Super Doctors” for 11 years, making him a part of the “Super Doctors” hall of fame. Outside of work Dr. Fass has performed in many triathlons, and he still swims and bikes for exercise to stay in top shape.
At home, Dr. Fass has 2 children: 6 and 8. He is very active in their sports and education, and he loves seeing them grow up. Fun fact! Both children are learning Spanish and Chinese! In his spare time, Dr. Fass is an avid reader of history, specifically presidential and war history. Dr. Fass also loves travel, specifically to foreign countries, and someday he would like to spend a summer living in Europe.
We hope this helps you get to know Dr. Fass a little more! However, the best way to get to know Austin’s First Laparoscopic Fellowship Trained Surgeon is to set up a consultation with him. Contact us today to begin working toward a healthier, more fit you!
